The Breeder - Ingrid is my name, I grew up with cats and always fancied the big wild-looking species.
I bought my first Maine Coon in 1989 in Austria, I am Austrian, originally.
Moving to New Zealand in 2002, I brought my two female imports from Italy with me to start breeding Maine
Coons here 25km north-west of Gisborne on our farm on the remote East Coast of the North Island.
Today I have not only got polydactyl Maine Coons, but also Somali, Bengal, Tiffanie, Burmilla, Javanese, Chinchilla, Oriental and Siamese in my breeding programme. They are used for outcrossing the Bengal cat to get the Serengeti, Cheetoh, Renegade and Cougarin.
The Cashmere Cat is a longhaired Bengal.
Bearing in mind that cats are carnivores, I am so lucky to feed them mainly fresh meat from hunting and the farm. Exporting overseas, there is no quarantine for animals coming from New Zealand.
