The Breeder - Ingrid is my name, I grew up with cats and always fancied the big wild-looking species.
I bought my first Maine Coon in 1989 in Austria.
Moving to New Zealand in 2002, I brought my two female imports from Italy with me to start breeding Maine
Coons here 25km north-west of Gisborne on a farm on the remote East Coast of the North Island.
Today I have polydactyl Maine Coons, Somali, Bengal and Oriental in my breeding programme. Some were used for outcrossing the Bengal cat to get longhaired and melanistic Bengals.
The Cashmere Cat is a longhaired Bengal. At present I do not have any longhaired Bengals, but hopefully I will have some Cashmeres soon. I used to show my cats with the NZ Cat Fancy, but now I am a registered breeder with TICA, because of the new breeds I was experimenting with... which are not listed with NZCat Fancy.
Bearing in mind that cats are carnivores, I am so lucky to feed them mainly fresh meat from hunting and the farm. Exporting overseas, there is no quarantine for animals coming from New Zealand.
